Setting Up Your Local Server on macOS Catalina (2019) – MAMP – macOS, Apache, MySQL, PHP October 7, 2019 November 15, 2020 Yuki Tutorials If you want to run a server on your macOS Catalina, or you recently updated to Catalina, you might need to re-configure your system, follow the below instructions. Fresh download of MAMP - was that the free version? The versions of the server software from the FPA results are interesting. Apache 2.2.34 was released in July 2017, in fact End-of-Life (EOL) of Apache 2.2 was in 2018, whereas PHP 7.4.1 was released only two months ago. MacOS Catalina brings plenty of new features and apps to get excited about, but as with all software updates, you can expect some bumps along the way. That shouldn’t come as a surprise, though. Feb 19, 2018 1) Download MAMP from the MAMP website. 2) Open the.pkg file and follow the installation instructions to install MAMP to your Mac. 3) Once the installation is complete, you’ll find two folders in your Applications folder — one for MAMP, and another that is a 14-day free trial for MAMP Pro. Open the folder named MAMP and launch the MAMP app.

  • Since upgrading my Mac operating system to Catalina last week, when I type “localhost” into the URL bar of the browser I get a 403 Forbidden error that brings up a page that says “Forbidden You don’t have permission to access / on this server.” I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling MAMP twice, same result. (I believe I naively managed to delete my database files by doing this, but that’s water under the bridge at this point.) I’ve checked the sharing and permissions on all folders and I have “read & write” permissions set. Could anyone please advise as to what I could do? I’ve contacted MAMP support but they are no help (they wrote back “Please, can you reinstall MAMP PRO under root/admin permissions,” whatever that means). I contacted Apple support, they have no idea. And I’ve spent an entire day searching Google with no solution. Do you have any idea what steps I can take to solve this, or who I can contact who would be “hands-on” and do a screen share with me or whatever? Happy to pay them. I’m at a dead end. Thanks very much if you can help.

  • Take a look at this article:
    https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/372076/macos-catalina-doesnt-allow-mamp-permission-to-certain-folders-documents-down

I NEVER upgrade OSX in the first few months after a release for this reason. I always wait for enough support docs to populate the web…

I’ve got the same problem, except the instructions on that link didn’t work for me. I’ve tried everything and I’m about to lose two months of work if I can’t get it fixed.

Do you think that the cables are the only reason as I have done all the other trouble shooting 8 gb ram for mac.
