Piglins are a type of mob that inhabits the entirety of the Nether dimension. They appear in all of the Nether locations.

  • I suggest that piglins will barter for very rare drops it you give them gold blocks, each gold block is one rare drop such as ender pearls or enchanted books. They can also bather for special things such as diamonds or netherite scraps (for a low chance).
  • Find out how to make a piglin dance in Minecraft 1.16.1!-MY PAT.

Piglins are neutral mobs found in the Nether. They attack players on sight unless the player is equipped with at least one piece of golden armor. Players can use gold ingots to barter with them for.

Trivia[edit]

  • Unlike in normal Minecraft, piglins and wither skeletons don't attack each other.
  • Zombified piglins and its variants are all hostile instead of neutral, differing them from their base game variant.

Bartering is an action the player can perform with piglins to obtain various items.

Minecraft

Mechanics[edit]

Piglins

To barter with a piglin, either throw by dropping a gold ingot near an adult piglin or use a gold ingot on it. After the piglin takes the gold ingot and examines it for six seconds in Java Edition or eight seconds in Bedrock Edition, it tosses a random item to the player. Piglin brutes ignore gold ingots and baby piglins will take the ingot without giving anything in return.

Minecraft Zombified Piglin

Piglins pick up many other items that are made of gold; however, ingots are the only items that piglins accept for bartering. Baby piglins are incapable of bartering and treat gold ingots like any other gold items.

Hitting a piglin causes it to 'confiscate' the ingot; the piglin does not complete the barter. It cannot be bartered with again unless it puts another item in its inventory. Piglins who are killed in one hit before they finish examining always drop the ingot.

Bartering is controlled by the loot tableminecraft:gameplay/piglin_bartering. If the gamerulemobGriefing is false, piglins only barter when the player uses a gold ingot on them.

Trivia[edit]

  • Piglins sometimes pick up and equip the iron boots enchanted with Soul Speed that they have just offered while bartering. If the player wants to obtain the iron boots without killing the piglin, they can offer the piglin a pair of golden boots, and the piglin will discard the iron boots in favor of the golden pair.
