Following the success of Civilization, the company decided to create a new series in the realm of economic simulation. TTD was the second in the series and became more popular than the original Transport Tycoon. In this managerial simulation players start out with a loan to launch a railroad company in 1950 and they will have to run their business all the way up to the year 2050.
